This past Saturday, December 7, 2019, our Grade 3 students represented Kipapa at the Jr. FIRST Lego League Exhibition held at the Neal Blaisdell Center. This year's theme was called Boomtown Build. These students researched building structures and studied architecture, specifically buildings that were durable, accessible, and environmentally friendly. They created a "Show Me" poster and a Lego model that included a programmed moving part! They presented their project in front of judges and were asked a series of questions.
Ms. Sandra Hashida (3rd grade teacher) was featured on Hawaii News Now and spoke about how awesome the kids were in presenting their project. Ms. Hashida and Mrs. Motta's team was selected out of 54 teams to represent Hawaii at the FIRST Lego League World Festival in Houston, Texas on April 15 - 18, 2020! So AWESOME!
Thank you to all of the Grade 3 teachers (Ms. Hashida, Mrs. Motta, Coach Harvey, Ms. Katsura, & Mrs. Gsoell) for all of their hard work and dedication to this project! It takes a lot of creativity, time, and patience to make sure all of their students do the research, model, and presentation. CONGRATULATIONS to all of the teams that represented Kipapa!
L4's Team... congratulations on the HUGE win!
